The South Dakota Farmers Union Farming For The Future media challenge offers a scholarship opportunity organized by the South Dakota Farmers Union. This program aims to engage college and high school seniors, equipping them with the tools to become effective advocates for South Dakota agriculture. Each individual's journey in sharing the story of agriculture is unique; by recounting personal experiences or exploring unfamiliar aspects of agriculture, participants can connect with the general public to illustrate where our food originates and how it is produced.
The Farming For The Future challenge welcomes any college student in undergraduate, graduate, or professional programs and high school seniors who have a genuine interest in agriculture, regardless of their background or experience. Over the course of seven weeks, students will have the chance to network with members of the South Dakota Farmers Union and industry professionals while enhancing their communication skills.
As they advance through the program, students will develop their abilities and acquire valuable skills to strengthen their resumes for future internships or job opportunities.
Each week, a specific product, producer, or agricultural issue is featured, and students are encouraged to share their insights on various social media platforms or complete weekly challenges. At the conclusion of each week, the top five students are awarded mini-scholarships. Points are accumulated throughout the seven weeks to determine the overall top five participants, who will receive scholarships and the chance to attend the South Dakota Farmers Union State Convention. Use the #FarmingForTheFuture to gain points!
South Dakota Farmers Union annually gives recognition to young people who commit to a South Dakota college, university or technical institute, and whose parents are current members of Farmers Union.
Farmers Union starts investing in youth at age 8 and that investment is never ending as they progress through their education. We are excited for our youth as they transition into the next chapter and are thankful to continue our support for their future. Three $500 scholarships are awarded each year to deserving students.
The Agricultural Graduate School Scholarship, sponsored by Travelers Motor Club, is designed to help retain talent in South Dakota to support South Dakota's agriculture industry. It is open to students from South Dakota, pursuing a graduate degree in research, animal science, agriculture business or agriculture education at an accredited South Dakota school.
Eligible graduate students include on-campus and distance education students who are pursuing any master's or doctoral program, agriculture teacher certification program (CERT/FCSC) or graduate certificate program (GCERT). The scholarship is for $2500.
On a national level, we have 3 scholarships that are available: NFU Foundation Stanely-Moore, Farmers Union Industries Foundation Stanley-Moore Scholarship and the Hubert K & JoAnn Seymour National. Please find the dowload options for these scholarships below.
